Baby Samuel Born in Lockdown 2020
"Giving birth during the lockdown has had ups and downs. I was so worried I’d give birth alone and it was a relief to have my birth partner with me. I was due to come home the next day. Unfortunately my son became unwell and he was taken to Special Care. Other than me, nobody else could visit and it was a lonely experience. But back home we’ve been able to focus on family time and getting a routine established. When else will we get this precious time as a family? I do miss family and friends but there’ll be plenty of time in the future to introduce Samuel to his extended family. Right now I’m enjoying all the cuddles." - Jen Harrogate
Baby Samuel had just spent some time in Harrogate Hospital Special Care Baby Unit and this is where all the money raised is going :)
Being a newborn photographer in Yorkshire it broke my heart that these memories could not be captured in the first weeks. I started this personal project through Zoom to document the feelings new parents are having and spread smiles on the way.
"I felt really honoured when I did the shoot, a bit emotional really. I had thought we’d miss out on a newborn shoot due to lockdown so I was so grateful we could still capture these moments.
Just before the shoot I did wonder how it would work. We have very old technology and I’m a bit useless with tech. I’m also no good with Zoom!
During the shoot it felt very relaxed. It was easy to follow your directions and you didn’t mind that I needed to change baby half way through. It was great you did the family shot first so Hannah could play.
I couldn’t believe it when I saw the image. Just couldn’t get my head around how you did it via Zoom?! Really pleased with the creation, we love it and such a lovely memory of Samuel’s early days. Thank you so much xxxxx" - Jen
